Useful Tips for Saving Money at the Pump

First, use this website to find the cheapest gas near you or along your route.
You could save from 10 to 20 cents per gallon just by shopping around.

Next, use a credit card that pays you a rebate everytime you shop for gas.
We can't emphasize this enough! Choose a gas station that accepts your Visa or MasterCard. Several of these cards will give you a 3% rebate on gasoline purchases and have no annual fee. At least one card will even give you a 6% rebate for a 90 day promotional period. That's over 13 cents a gallon at today's prices. If you're not using these cards you're THROWING MONEY AWAY! We like the Chase PerfectCard™ MasterCard®. Apply Now!

Finally, don't accelerate aggressively and don't drive above the posted speed limit.
Edmunds.com estimates you could save from 12% to 37% just by driving less aggressively and observing the speed limit. That could save you over 35 cents per gallon at today's prices.

According to the American Petroleum Institute, the average household will spend $2,150 on gasoline in 2006.
By following these simple tips, you could easily save hundreds of dollars each year.
